The plan of Amsterdam was compiled and published by the Dutch map-maker and publisher Frederick de Wit. The plan shows the town walls, fortifications, bastions, built-up areas, streets, bridges, public buildings, windmills, the port, wharves, docks, shipyards, and gardens. Below is a perspective view of Amsterdam (Amstelodami prospectus) in a cartouche. At the top left is the coat-of-arms of Amsterdam; the seal of Amsterdam is to the right.
