We would like to invite you to take part in the 5th All-Russian scientific and practical conference titled "Library collections in the digital age: traditional and electronic resources, acquisition, and use," which will be held on March 30 - April 4, 2015, at the National Library of Russia, St. Petersburg.

Acquisition librarians, bibliographers, information workers and other library specialists, publishers, aggregators of electronic resources, and company representatives are invited to participate.

Plenary discussions:

  • State cultural policy and issues related to the acquisition of library collections.
  • Reforming of the federal system of legislation on legal deposit copies of documents in the digital environment. Search for a balance among the interests of authors, publishers, libraries and users.
  • The revised version of Part IV of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation: new opportunities for libraries to digitize scientific and educational literature; publishers’ expectations.
  • The Cultural Map of Russia: Literature. Reading. Opportunities for the development of infrastructure related to books, reading, and improving the quality of library collections.

  • “Record-keeping procedures for library collections with comments and attachments” - draft regulation by the Russian Library Association; features of record-keeping procedures for online electronic resources; drafts of new Russian National Standards titled “Library collections. Technologies related to the development of library collections,” “Acquisition of documents. Terms and definitions,” “Electronic documents. The main types. Imprint. Technological characteristics of electronic resources,” and others.

An exhibition will be held within the framework of the conference.

In order to participate in the conference, please fill out a registration form.

Participation fee for publishers, aggregators, and company representatives amounts to 1,000 rubles (including VAT of 18%). In order to register, please email us at the address .

Applications for participation in the exhibition will be accepted until March 11, 2015.

Registration is open until March 14, 2015.

Please send a title of your report or presentation, as well as a brief summary in a .doc file format, for inclusion into the program to the following email address no later than March 11, 2015:  niobf@nlr.ru.  After March 11, late submissions will not be accepted. 

Conference materials are planned to be published. We kindly ask that you save copies of illustrations used in presentations in jpg or tiff formats with a resolution of 300 dpi.

An audio recording of the conference is planned to be made, which would allow for transcripts to be published.

The conference organizing committee reserves the right to select reports and presentations for inclusion into the conference program, and the right to select participants for the exhibition.
