The Dahl Collection

Vladimir Dahl (1801-1872), the writer, collector of sayings and compiler of the famous dictionary of the Russian language, presented his collection of lubok pictures to the library in 1852. It contains tinted prints with secular and religious subjects that were engraved on copper in the 1820s-40s. Some appear in different variants.
