NLR Personal and Corporate Body Headings
Basic cataloguing policies concerning personal and corporate body headings, and maintenance of personal and corporate body authority names files.
- participating in a revision of Russian Cataloguing Rules by providing description type selection and title statements for personal and corporate body names;
- participating in a harmonization of Russian Cataloguing Rules and AACR-2;
- participating in the NLR OPAC by providing access by personal and corporate body names headings;
- support and further development of personal and corporate body names authority files.

Corporate Body Names Database Description
The Corporate Body Names Database is a computerized file containing authority headings for both institutions and organizations, and conferences, etc. names. The database is integrated in NLR's electronic catalogue authority files. The Corporate Body Names Database derives from the Card File of corporate body headings maintained since the 1930s, containing authority name entries for all institutions and organizations, and interim corporate bodies whose publications in Russian, Ukrainian, Byelorussian or foreign European languages are held by the NLR.
The Database is unique among the country's national library services.
Since 1995 the NLR has been maintaining an electronic database of corporate body headings, currently containing over 100 thousand records conforming to Russian communications format for authority data. New additions depend on acquisitions cataloguing, amounting to about 9 thousand per year. Downloading provided for individual sets.

Personal Names Database Description
The Personal Names Database is a computerized file containing authority headings for personal and family names. The database is integrated in NLR's authority files.
NLR electronic database currently contains almost 10 thousand records for personal names headings in NLR house format for authority records (based on Russian communications format for authority records - RUSMARC)
Current additions, besides personal names headings added to the database in the course of acquisitions cataloguing, involve personal names data sets from NLR Union Catalogue Database and GAC, amounting to almost 9 mil card entries in Russian, Ukrainian, Byelorussian, and 1668 in foreign European languages. The catalogue indexes all editions in the NLR. Card records also include author data, source reference and cataloguer's notes.
NLR GAC author data sets allow for the following authors/titles catalogue maintenance and support processes:
- addition
- withdrawal
- editing/revision
- searching
Including updating in acquisitions cataloguing amounting to about 8 000 records per year. Downloading provided for individual record sets, e.g. special author categories.
