IX Symposium of Bibliotheca Baltica

General Information

Symposium Venue

The 9th Internation Symposium of Bibliotheca Baltica will be held at the National Library of Russia in St. Petersburg on October 23-24, 2008. The New building of the Library is located on Moskovsky prospect, 165/2 not far from Hotel "Pulkovskaya"(about 15 min walk) and not far from Hotel "Russya" (about 5 min walk). The Main building is located at the center of the city near the metro station "Gostiny Dvor" (on the corner of Nevsky prospect and Sadovaia street).

The Symposium will take place in the New Building of the National Library of Russia (Moskovsky prospect, 165/2, Conference Hall).

Language

The Symposium language will be English. Simultaneous translation services will be available in the English and Russian languages.

Payments

Participation in the Symposium requires a registration fee of 50 Euro. The registration fee covers: a conference package, coffee breaks and lunches during the Symposium, a reception sponsored by the National Library of Russia, guided tours of the NLR, St. Petersburg and the Hermitage, transfers from and to the Pulkovo II International Airport. Several cultural events will be offered for additional payments (see: Registration).

Requirements for Papers/Presentations

Papers are invited from all libraries and research institutions dealing with maps and other cartographic materials on the Baltic Sea and its sea-bound areas. Papers may cover issues of access, cataloging and metadating, storage and retrieval, preservation, and digitization of cartographic materials.

Abstracts

In your application for your presentation, please include:

  1. Name of the presenting author(s)
  2. Title of your presentation
  3. Mailing address, phone/fax number and email address of the Corresponding person.
  4. Abstract of no more than 200 words.

Deadline for abstract submission is September 1, 2008. Please send your abstract to Elena Bokhonskaia at: . All materials will be considered within one week by email. Notification of acceptance will be sent by September 15, 2008. The accepted abstracts will be available for the participants online on the symposium website upon receipt.

Full text

Full text of the accepted papers should be sent to the NLR by October 1, 2008. Please use the same address as for the abstracts. The paper should not extend to more than 12 pages double spaced. The submitted papers will be available for the participants online on the symposium website upon receipt

Presentations

Each speaker will be allowed 20 minutes for a presentation ( + 10 minutes' discussion). Please inform us about any technical requirements you may have for delivering your presentation.
